Although a natural burial ground, GreenAcres allow their woodland hall to be used for cremation services. There’s also the option of using the separate Gathering Hall as a wake venue. The service is held at the venue, the actual cremation then takes place afterwards at a local crematorium and is unattended.
Just a 30 – 40 minute drive (~23 miles) from SW London, will transport you to a most peaceful setting surrounded by nature. As you arrive, you drive along a woodland road before turning into the forest. It’s an entirely different atmosphere – less funereal.
What gREENaCRES cHILTERN offers
- Chapel: This is a stunning Woodland Hall with glass walls in a natural woodland setting that can seat up to 120 people. The service is held at GreenAcres, after which the coffin is discretely taken by GreenAcres to their eco-friendly North Oxford Crematorium for cremation.
- Service time: around 50 minutes
- Visual tributes: There is a landscape TV screen should you wish for a slideshow of photos as a reflection piece to be played during the service (we create this for you)
- Webcasting: Live-streaming option available so service can be webcast live in real time
- Ashes: You may choose to have ashes scattered or interred at GreenAcres
- Accessibility: Wheelchair access is available.
- Guests can gather and chat in in the courtyard or Gathering Hall before and after the service (including an outdoor picnic area)
- Typically we pre-place the coffin into the hall before family arrive as it can feel softer. This means that if you wished for a few private moments in the hall before guests enter, we can arrange this
- The coffin stands elegantly on trestles in front of glass doors overlooking the woodland

How much does a cremation at GreenAcres Chiltern cost?
- Standard fee for a cremation service (up to 60 minutes of service time): £695
- There is no additional charge made for a live webcast
- Hall Hire fee for reception: £395 (up to 1 hour) in the Gathering Hall
